Spoken Language Study

The language of the unique individual.

We’re starting the year with an investigation into the spoken language of the everyday individual. We’re pursuing the thesis that huge amounts of information can be inferred from the way people speak – this is in addition to what they say.

Homework Task 1: (Due Thursday)

The first task is to record some short samples of real life spoken conversation from your own personal environment. We’re going to transcribe and examine these for any evidence of this inferred information.

Glossary:

Use this glossary of Spoken Language terms to identify any non-standard language features in your transcript.
